Life of Pi by Yann Martel reveiwed by Timothy Zaragoza

Life of Pi is a very interesting book by Yann Martel with a lot of twist and turns along the plot which mean unexpected things that happen to Piscine Patel (Pi for short) the main character in the story. For example one unexpected thing that had happened to Pi is that he became friends with a Bengal tiger that Pi named, Richard Parker. Pi is was just a teenager when he was stranded on a life with a Bengal tiger, and that would only be the least of his problems. Yann Martel was born in Spain in 1963 bot of his parents were Canadian and Life of Pi is basically Pi trying to reach Canada which is what Yann Matel wanted to do.
There are also very interesting characters like Richard Parker the tiger. Richard Parker’s interests are sleeping most of the time and when he is not sleeping he is usually eating or rarely hunting. Pi is probably the almost the exact opposite of Richard Parker, Pi worries a lot about being saved and Richard Parker likes to enjoy his time, and Pi is also very religious. That is only two of the characters from The Life of Pi.
Life of Pi also has very cool and interesting settings, like the main setting which is Pi and Richard Parker on a life boat drifting with the ocean currents hoping to find land, what is interesting about this setting is that Pi is alone on a life boat with Richard Parker who is a Bengal tiger and those tigers are very dangerous. The cool setting is in Pi’s Dad zoo which is in Pondicherry where there are all sorts of animal and that where Pi met the Bengal tiger who would become Richard Parker his closest friend.
Some of the themes from Life of Pi would probably be religion because Pi went to a lot of churches, temples searching for what religion he believed, some of the few religions he went to see if they had the right answer he was looking for was a catholic church where the people there were nice to him, the other one he was told by an atheist who said religion is nothing but darkness which is because that’s a lot different from what I’m told. The other religion was one that he was born into which was Hinduism, and that’s what Pi’s parents taught him. The other theme I think was being acknowledged or accepted because his family loved but Pi some how felt empty, so I think that is why he went out looking for different religions and the only who probably accepted is Richard Parker which I what I think.
Overall I think Life of Pi was a pretty good book because it has one of my favorite genre which is adventures o if you are probably looking for a adventure book I would suggest The Life of Pi. Another good thing I liked about The Life of Pi was challenging because someone would talk about Pi’s future in the book what I didn’t like was the ending because I didn’t have my entire question about the book answered in the end. So I would give this book an eight out of ten.

Chapter 13- Shipwreck

The boys were finally saved from the horrifying Island that had claimed the lives of Piggy and Simon, everyone was anxious to get home on the crowded cruiser. Ralph and Samneric were the first ones to get to use the shower and they were rejoicing their first real shower in what seemed as centuries.
“ Ah… this is the best feeling, warm water and soap, you guys should come in” said Ralph
“No thanks-”
“we may have been on an island but-
we want to take our showers like we do at home” replied Samneric
While Ralph was taking a shower he heard the person he forgot about. Jack.
“Hurry up you are going to use up all the warm water so you’ll have to take showers in pairs!” Jack shouted
“Fine-
then.” mumbled Samneric
After everyone one was done taking a shower the tiles were black and the water looked swampy and the whole shower looked like a lagoon. Now the naval officer called every one to the deck of the cruiser.
“Alright I don’t know what happened on that island but I need to know how those two boys died on the Island and how did all of you end up there, so whoever would like to speak raise your hands first.” said the naval officer
Ralph stood up.
“Yes you ,standing.” said Ralph
“Well sir we ended up on the island by surviving a plane crash, and we tried to make our own civilization but he-
Ralph pointed at Jack.
messed up our first chance at being rescued by going hunting and he has been getting worse ever since!” said Ralph furiously
Jack stood up furiously.
“I admit to ruining the rescue but it’s not my fault your group failed at surviving!” Jack shouted
“Yea well you and your group are the ones who killed Simon and piggy and if the officer didn’t come to our island I would have been hunted and killed!” Ralph said shouted
The officer stood up.
“Now hold on, this kid and his group killed two other kids, and were about to kill you?” said the naval officer puzzled
“Yes, except those two-
Ralph pointed at Samneric.
and the littluns were forced by him to join his group that are all bloody murderers!”
Now only the bigguns were on Jacks side and littuns plus Samneric were on Ralph’s side. Jack now with his face all red attacked Ralph, and they were exchanging fists into each others faces until the officer fired the gun once.
BOOM!
“Break it up or I’ll stop this boat and leave you two back on that island.” shouted the naval officer
Ralph and Jack suddenly stopped as if being controlled, Jack was bleeding from his mouth, Ralph from his nose.
“ Ok what you are saying uh, what’s your name?” said the officer
“Ralph” replied Ralph
“What you’re saying Ralph is that Jack and his group are murderers by killing those two boy?” said the naval officer
“Yes it’s true” replied Ralph
Ralph’s side nodded in unison.
“Okay I’ll keep a special watch on them then, now all of you need a hair cut so who’s is up first.” said the officer cheerfully
Everyone boy on that ship crowed him like if he were their parents and that was when Jack snapped, he went in the crowd and snatched the officer’s gun.
“Now son calm down you don’t need to act like this jack we can work every thi-”
“BOOM, okay who’s next who wants to get shot now, you Ralph for telling on me.”
“No Jack you don’t need to kill anyone more, we can work this out.” Ralph replied seriously.
“Fine, now I’m in charge of this cruiser, and every one will listen or boom.” Jack said with a evil grin.
So that day it felt like Ralph was back on the island except really smaller but with Jack more powerful than ever, Jack did the merciless thing to this time keep Ralph alive and make his life a hell and the twins couldn’t help him. Every day was the same for Ralph he woke up to gunpoint by Jack and pulled by his long since Jack never let him cut it and was forced to take a cold shower and eat only once a day. The only thing Ralph that would be worse is to Jack to make him swim in the ocean. The boys didn’t have a clue to where they were going so they just kept heading north until they found land. Then Ralph just had enough of the beat downs and the thing Jack made him do so he planned a way to escape. It was going to be tomorrow night. Ralph got the twins.
“Hey..wake up” Ralph said with a faint whisper.
“Huh….what is-
going on.” said the twins drowsily.
“We are going to escape, I filled the inflatable raft, with food we got to go before Jack notices, and bring your blankets and pillows.” whispered Ralph
The twins did what they asked and scurried their way t the deck of the boat where the raft was waiting. It was chilly outside and they raft was waiting, Ralph unhooked it from the cruiser and that when showed up, like if he was the beast itself.
“Ralph and you two get back to sleep and I promise I won’t kill you.” Jack simply said.
“Ralph that sounds-
like a good deal.” replied the terrified twins.
Nrrrrrr, an enemy plane has spotted the cruiser and was aiming at it for practice and fun before it had to go back it’s base. Ralph spotted it and knew what it was and within that second Ralph ran un hooked the boat.
“ JUMP!!!” Ralph shouted.
The twins and Ralph jumped and there was a boom, Jack got Ralph in the leg as he barely made to the boat that was drifting away with the twins. Moments later there was a big boom and a flash the pushed the boat further with three people on it. The cruiser was out of sight. Ralph was drifting a way to a deep slumber and the twins moving their mouths, without any sound coming out and the only thing on Ralph’s mind was going to rest hoping not to survive again.

Chapter: (11-12) Savage Tribe.
2= Samneric
Samneric's Journal

Eric and I woke up that night, with people trying to beat us up- but Jack and his hunter's just wanted to get Piggy's glasses so when we woke up the next day Sam and I woke up I had dried blood over my face from Jack's hunters. I was delirious to get back at Jack- and me too, so Ralph and Piggy wanted to go to Jack's tribe at castle rock- so I Eric suggested to go and paint our faces but Ralph told Sam and I that if we paint ourselves that we only be at the same level with Jack and his crazy tribe. We went off- Piggy looked frustrated about how we were going to try and put a cessation to Jack's tribe which to me and Eric was not such a good idea. When-Sam, Ralph, Piggy, and I went to go see Jack's tribe we found ourselves trapped by guards from Jack's tribe. Then Jack comes out of no where with a dead pig in his hands and that freaks us both out on how he can easily kill a pig. Piggy tries to put order there already buy saying that he has the conch and that how we should just be mainly focusing on to being rescued. Roger doesn't like that at all so he truculently shove a big boulder and it instantly kills piggy. While Eric and I are still shocked that piggy has died Ralph acts quick and gets away from the horrid place while Jack and his hunters make a cordon around us and foorce us to join.

Chapter 12

Ralph has got away and I think he is the luckiest one out of all of us since we hate Jack in his tribe. If they wouldn't kill us then we would gladly join Ralph. So Jack later that day put us both as guard duty and the biggest surprise happened when Ralph showed up but the other were coming so he had to quickly go, but the worst thing happened there Jack and Roger showed up the two most evil people we know. They tortured us to tell them where Ralph was and eventually they squeezed out of us and they went to go get him the first person to try and get Ralph was too lucky put tribe smoked him out. so he was on the run and unfortunately we had to chase our best friend but we our still thankful that the smoke the tribe caused caught the glimpse of a ship and he was the Talisman to stop jack and the tribe and rescue us from this horrid Island.

Chapter (9-10) Where is Simon?

2=Piggy

Piggy's journal

     Hmm I wonder where Simon was but me and Ralph decided to go on with out him to that feast or party Jack invited us too. I wouldn't want to go but there is going to be food there and especially meat which I and Ralph hadn't had enough of in a long time and the is going to be fresh water so I guess me and Ralph are just here to eat and drink and see if we can sort something out with Jack even though I hardly think that's possible because hes probably become a savage since he had killed enough to feed everyone meat.  So we finally got to Jack's feast which took a while and could acted up my asthma but thankfully it didn't but to my surprise they looked like they were so happy and the thing that got me mad was that jack was sitting right in the middle like if he was a god so he finally got what he wanted him being leader which was barmy but I couldn't be mad since mine and Ralph's mouth were already drooling since we forgot what it felt like to have as much meat as we wanted.  We were there trying to regroup our different groups together and we were interrupted by the rain in which Jack denied our offer and started a crazy dance and by that we had just left since we didn't want to be there and it was kind of dark already and the phosphorescence of the moon was dim on that night. When we went to sleep I could already feel something was wrong since Simon  was missing maybe the theological beast may have got him since he's always in the forest. The next mooring we new Simon was probably dead since no one had seen him  and our group was cut down to me, Ralph, Samneric and some of the littuns, and I really don't know how we are going to survive since no one really has a corpulent body or has any illuminating ideas. I guess its only a matter of time. Later that night we were attacked by Jack's evil group and I almost had an asthma attack.

Chapter 8: What is wrong with jack?!
2= Ralph
Ralph's journal.

Why does Jack keep disobeying my orders I am the only one who can call meetings. Then he goes on being mad just cause I said his hunters were boys with sticks which is mostly true. Now he is just trying to insult me by saying that I was a coward and I didn't even go up that mountain. I went with him on that mountain we both saw what we saw and he is saying that I'm the coward, we both ran down that mountain. What I can't believe is that he compares me to a prefect when he was a demure choir boy who now calls himself the greatest hunter. So in the end he had a vote to make him leader instead of me but no one raised there hands for him so he stood there like if he was paunched, untile he snapped and started to cry and run away and say that he doesn't want to be a part of my gruop since the leader is a coward and whoever wants to join him is welcome to. I was wondering if maybe we should make the word Jack taboo as well. I kind of felt sorry for Jack but since he took some of members and stole our fire like demonaic creatures I hope he doesn't show his face around here anymore.

Chapter (6-7) The hunting continues.

My night sleep was ruined by those wimpy twins if they saw the beats they should of killed, it like send a boy to do my job. I can't stand it how Ralph calls meetings when he wants to its night time and he wants everyone to wake up because to twins had a nightmare. If they want the beast dead me and my hunters will do it. I can't believe Ralph had to embarass me infront of everyone in the meeting by me admitting that I haven't been everywhere on this Island. The good thing was I acted sagely about how to respond when I said I was going to hunt and kill this beast, but I'm confused first the littuns think that the beast is related to a leviathan but now they say its from the air. I just want to know how many beast are on this island anyways. I say everyone should care for themselves because the littluns are distracting us with there night mare about beast. Anyways we had to go check out if the beast was hiding in thaqt unknown part of the island which was a really wierd cave and ther was no animal living there so SamnEric just wasted out time with there nightmares. This makes me so waxy I could just go flailing on those twins, but they are a part of my hunter so I can't really hurt them. I really thought that Ralph was all talk since he was just a leader and thought that hunting wasn't that important but when he naild that boar on its snout I realized that he might be alright after all and maybe he'll going hunting with us he just need to know not to attack right away or then it runs off like a wimpy kid playing rugger with big kids. what was scary was that we saw a ape like beast making flapping noise which didn't make sense, but next time I'll kill it!

Chapter 5
2=Simon
Simon's journal

That evening started out with Ralph calling a meeting at dark and this time it was a serious meeting since what happened this afternoon. I still hate Jack for letting the fire out we could of been rescued, go home and then he could of had all the meat he wanted. Besides he only killed one pig enough to only give to his hunter and to me,Ralph, and Piggy, besides the pig had a wierd after taste. I'm just freaked out that one of these days on the Island Jack is going to snap and is going to start hurting or killing everyone here because the obsession of killing. During the assembly many were discursive about the rules Ralph was stating. Then Came the part when the assembly went wrong, it was when we were talking about the beastie, some of the older kids were jeeringly laughing at percival for going to talk in front of everyone and when that happened was when the lamentation exploded out of percival and so did the rest of the little uns. That when piggy tried to take control and say that the decorum of everyone here was gone and that everyone acted like savages but that didn't work. Ralph tried to remind everyone of being rescued but jack just snatched the conch with an effigy of a beast and took over the assembly.

Chapter 3-4: What is wrong with Jack?!
2=Piggy

Today I really didn't do anything I was just walking around the island and helping with the littluns like building sand castles and and picking fruit for them. I had a really tough time avoiding Ralph since he wanted everyone to help with the hut but I told him that I had asthma but he said "Sucks to your ass mar". I wonder why all the big kids give me such a hard time here on this island. I just try and be nice and friendly but they always turn me down by having a compulsion to make blatant about me. Perhaps i should help Ralph and the rest of the kids make the huts since I want shelter and maybe somewhere warm to sleep, but i can't stand Jack's belligerence but I'm going to have deal with it. man Its a long walk to the side of the beach they are on and my asthma might get in the way maybe its best just to let them do it I'll just watch. Wait I'm close to a pond I can get gout's of water for them. That'll sure show them I'm useful.

Yes I'm finally here, hey where did Ralph and Simon go, well at least I have an excuse.
Ah its a good day to be swimming but Ralph just seem annoyed to be around me it's ludicrous that almost everyone here dislikes I wonder why is it my weight or my specs I even
helped to make the fire since they used my specs. While I was just gazing at the horizon I saw an effigy to of a ship. My heart pounded so quickly of all the thoughts of the good things that would happen to us if we got rescued but little had we know Jack disobeyed Ralph once more and borrow the people who were supposed to keep the fire and the ship didn't see and on top of that I was beaten by jack but next I will defend myself.

Chapter 2: Some one, shut piggy up!

"Okay so it's all agreed we are going to make a signal fire on top of that mountain". Said Ralph, "Now for whoever wants to speak up is going to have to hold the conch and I'll pass it to whoever raise there hand that wants to talk". Said Ralph. Great now there are more rules, man i should have been leader and I will. "Excuse me Ralph I have some thing that you guys should hear that is very odd". Said Piggy. Now the fat one wants to waste our time with his dumb stories. "Now look here piggy we don't you to waste our time with your lame stories we got a fire to make." said Jack. It's not me who wants to talk its him the little boy so if you'll stop being so errant and listen to what he has to say." said piggy. "Ok.. w-well it was during night an-and I saw a snake like beastie." said the little boy. "He is probably martyred from a nightmare he dreamt before to today, why don't you go back to capering with you friends little boy." So first we got all the wood but how do you make a fire." said Ralph. "I know how." said Jack "Jack what are you doi-hey give me back my specs you guys pinched my specs!" said Piggy "Okay guys move out of the light while I light this fire." said Ralph with an officious feeling. Yes it lit, but now all we need is smoke. " How come there wasn't any smoke." said Jack " I think there wasn't enough green wood." said piggy. "We didn't ask for your opinion." said jack now all we need is green smoke.

Chapter 1: Why is Ralph leader?!
2=Jack

Whats that noise? It sounds like a trumpet. "I as the the precentor say we should go where that noise came from" said Jack. Man that dumb pilot, we were incredulous lucky to make it off that plane alive, this sucks were are stranded on an Island and I hope whoever made that noise is here to help us. We have been walking a while and we are still not close enough to see and this heat and the palm fronds are just annoying. Finally we're here. "Choir halt, now where is the grownup who blew the trumpet!" said Jack. "Its just me."replied Ralph. Hmm what a specious little kid how did he make such a loud noise with that thing? "Ok sow where is the adult or there aren't any?" said Jack. This is just percfect we are stranded some where thereis no adult but just little kids. "Ok so first we are going to need a leader and I suggest my self because I contain the outstanding intricacies for a good leader.

Final Romek Post

1) The most shocking part for me would probably when the people that were still alive in the camp that David was in that they started to eat the flash of the dead people. Even though I would be starving to death I would never eat flesh of a human, I would have probably done what the doctor told David to and eat grass.

2) The job David got at the Krawinkel helped him survive and regain a little strength because he got a job feeding the German Shepard dogs. There he only had to feed the dogs three times a day with out being supervised so he ate some of the dog food and didn't have to work as much. He also helped his friends by bringing some of the dog biscuits to them so they could eat a little more but all that ended when he was switched to the belsen camps.

3) The conditions were really bad towards the end of the war because no one had any more strength to pull the dead bodies to the ovens and then the Germans stopped feeding the people and then the people just started to starve to death and that's when things got desperate and people started eating the dead but the sad part is most of the people who ate the dead died the next day. The thing that helped him was talking to the doctor.

4)I guess he felt very joyful when the soldiers went into his barrack to help, especially when the soldier saved David by getting the medical teams. The triumph he got was probably when he was in the hospital thinking that he survived and kept his promise to his mother. The pride he felt when he could actually do a favor in return for the people who saved him.

5) David Faber's book, Because of Romek, should be required reading in all middle schools, high schools, and universities because all students need to learn about the horrors of the Holocaust. People need to know what exactly what the German people did because most books do not explain this passionately what happened and also this wasn't just facts this is some who experienced the horrible holocaust fist hand for years.

I learn about a guy named Francois Rabelais was a man who lived during the renaissance and played an important role as a skilled doctor. He got famous by leaving the monastery that he joined to go away and study medicine since the monastery had no tolerance for that kind of research. Later while attending a fair he heard some stories that gave him ideas for his later famous book called Pantagruel.

1) His pigeon is important because when the day the pigeon left it brought friends. Every day the pigeons came every morning around 8 am and one day the pigeons didn't come. That's when David's mom new some thing was wrong and so his family hid from the Nazis that were coming.When they came out everyone in the neighborhood was dead.

2) The conditions were awful, having to wake up to a guy ringing a bell in your ear and have o work to sunset with barely any food. I think that the Nazis used the word vacation as a sick joke or they didn't want the rest of germany to look into this.

-I would ask him how does he sleep every night and possibly hvaeing tto remember all the horrible things that he had to live through?

1) I learned the jewish point of veiw because most of things I've seen of the holocaust are more of an overall veiw of most of the jewish people. I think that it must of been really scary to hide in some one's basement and hear the german artillery. Whats intersting is that david is trying his best to help every body to feel a little bit better.

2) I think davids family is really nice, and very brave to runaway from their friends and home. His dad is also very responsible to buy a horse and a wagon for his family to escape. Inn the house of the people who let them sleep in their basement was when evry body was really nice because they were all helping each other out to survive.

3) I think hes very brave when he has to since he was wanted to walk most of the way out of the border. He is also very nice and generous to every one to like he offered to bring his mom the tea.

I learned about Aztec life style, culture, and religion. We learned about Aztec warriors. At the age of 12 Aztec boys have to be warriors for 5 years with out pay after 5 years the 17 year old boys could get paid to fight for the Atzec army. There were social classes of the empire first was emperor, government officials, priest,warriors, merchants, peasants, and slaves. Pregnant Aztec women were honored because they either gave birth to a good warrior or a skilled weaver. Girls that were excellent weavers were the most respected because weaving was the skill of youth, and love.

style. The mural my group did was probably one of the most complicated one because

Final Monster Post

When steve's parents came they were happy to see him and they had alot of news that had heppend in their neighboorhood. Only steve's parents got to see him because the gaurds wouldn't let minors go in to see the inmates. Steve got to see jerry because he saw his parents come across the street through his cell window. Steve could feel that his mom was crying inside as if steve was already dead. The next day steve is doing his trail and O' brien brings in the star witness she was talking about. Who is Lorelle Henry, she was the woman in the drugstore at the time of the murder.

Petrocelli starts out askin Mrs. Henry about why was she in the store at the time which was because she was getting cough medicine for her daughter. Msr. Henry said she heard an argument going on at the time she was in the store. The Msr. Henry hears Mr. Nesbitt come over two the counter to see what the two young men wanted and then one of them grabs Mr. Nesbitt by the collar and that when Mrs. Henry quickly rushes out the store before she got hurt. The Petrocelli asks if she sees one of the men in the men in the store are present in the courtroom. and she points to James King. She doesn't point at steve though.

In the courtroom whiel steve is writing what eveyone says his lawyer O' brien crosses out all the monster the she says to steve " you have to believe you are innocent to win this case. O' brien is talking to steve on how you have to appeal to the jury so they could see that you are a normal human being. So then O' brien get a wittness named Osvaldo Cruz. Then when steve hears that name he remebers talking to him about osvaldo being in a gang called the Diablos. In the afternoo Osvaldo is talking in court. The prosecuter, Petrocelli is asking Osvaldo on how he knew Bobo or Mr. Evans he is saying how that he met him, he said " that he met him in a gang meeting.

Osvaldo was saying that if he didn't join the robbery that bobo would stab him and his mom. Pertocelli was aking if bobo has hurt anyone before but he said he heard bobo being in prison for little bit by stabing some one. Osvaldo was only 14 and bobo was 22 which was what Petrocelli was pointing out because she wanted the jury to know how bad he was being forced into this robbery on the drugstore. Then Pertocelli get Osvaldo say who he was scared of and he said " Bobo, James King, and Steve harmon. That was a big difference now because he is saying he was being forced by all of the and this is making steve look even worse.

The book starts out as Steve Harmon a black 16 year old male. Is making a movie of him in jail. The reason he is in jail is because the cops think he committed felony murder. He is writing in a note book which says the best time to cry is at night because some one else is getting beaten and other inmates can't hear you over the screaming, because if you cry people will think you are weak, and then you'll be next to be beaten. Steve remembers when he was convicted to go to jail until his real trial and the prosecutor(Petrocelli) called him a monster.

Later Steve is talking to his inmate friends Vo and Sunset, they are discussing that how Steve's trial starts today, and he is up for Felony murder. Later, Steve is talking to his lawyer O' Brien She is a white tall fairly attractive lady. Then the court clerk yells 2 minutes which means his trial is about to start in 2 minutes. Then the trial starts with the prosecutor starting with her speech. Steve is writing what is happening for his movie when he is free. Then he just writing monster over and over agian.

Why do you think steve is involed in this murder case.

The purpose of this project was to learn about moral courage and make an educational site using team work. We explored how to use Dream Weaver and became more useful using technology also we learned about copy rights, that taught how to not plagiaries, plagiarism is to copy some else's work and calling it your own. Also we had to focus this project on moral courage, first we were going to make a site about music but we did history instead and actually I think we would have gotten a bad grade if we kept going with music.

I learned about how to make links that can work because I used to not know how to make links on my DP. Also we learned how to make proper bibliography on easy bib .com. This project helped learn team work because in the beginning of this project we didn't cooperate together, and we didn't get the amount of work we needed to get done. Then in January we got our act together and we did the amount of work we needed. In the end we got a good grade also the the best about this project that I learned was that Dream Weaver is one of the hardest things to work with.

I enjoyed this project because we got to experiment with dream weaver which was pretty cool because I thought that it was only for our DP's. Also we got to enter in a competition between other sites that are uploaded on think quest. Next time I would use our class time more wisely because we kind of put every thing on our site together at the last minute. The thing I liked the most in this project is that it got me to a qualifying grade for me.

So Darren and harkart finally meet some they know and evenna tells them that they have to get gletinious globes under from a moster frog. They found that frog after hiking a while it was protected by alligators in the swamp so they made a plan they traveled around the swamp until they found a part that didn't have alligotors they found a spt that was perfect because it was behind the monster frog. So darren uses his enhanced vampire speed to get the globes but the frog nearly killed him with its huge long tounge Darren managed to get 4 while harkart got 8. They bolted out of the swamp and to evenna who was just being amused how they managed to get the gletinious globes. Evenna lead for weeks through another desert but it was easier traveling with a witch since she made the fired and gethered the food and finally sh lead to a big ocean and darren was getting week since he needed human blood because he was a vampire.

He asks if he could drink from evenna but she said no because her blood would kill him but she said if you cross this ocean you will find some humans. so they made a raft from a broken boat that was on shore. They caught and ate fish swimming near the raft, they drank the water also which evenna said that wasn't dangerous so they were trying to find out what evenna meant about getting some holy vile and temple of grotesque. Then one night while they were floating on a raft they heard beating of large wings, they immedeatly woke up, the tried to think what that noise was harkart said it sounded familiar and darren thought it could be a very large bird. The next night they woke up and heard that noise again and this time there was something in the sky and harkart immedeatly remembered what it was, he remembered it was a dragon!

The plan they made up was that they would capture a pair of monkeys, make a pit that has stakes in it and lure the tiger in and hopefully it would die. Darren was in charge of making the stakes and harkart had to catch the monkeys. He made a net and put coconuts and other wierd fruits in a spot he would throw the net over. Later a pair of monkeys came over to get the fruit and they were fighting over it so harkart threw the net and caught them, harkart dragged them and threw them into the pit of stakes darren made. tey were slowly dieing and enought time for the jaguar could come. They were waiting hour that day and finally it came it was to smart to just jump in the pit, so darren went to attack, the jaguar was pushed over to the edged and it took darren with it. so what harkart did was jump on the jaguar and it did take the jaguar down to the stakes but even the jauguar couldn't brake harkarts fall, he got wounded on his lefty leg and his right arm was torn by one of the stakes. When darren saw that he was hurt because it reminded him how Mr. Crepsley died by jumping in the pit of stakes also.

So darren helped harkart to get out of the pit, and he sewed harkart's right arm back on. They took the enormous jaguar out of the pit and looked all over the jaguars body and they found nothing. Then darren checked it's teeth and they found letters on 7 of its teeth,the letters were K, H, A, R, T, K, A, T. They didn't know what it meant but they also found a map on the stomach of the jaguar so they carved out the map and followed it. While after walking for a week they finally made it out of the jungle and they were in the desert again. Then they traveled into a swamp, where thewy were surprised to find Evenna and they were really glad to finally meet someone int his wierd world.

The fight was over at the beginning of the book, and Darren's mentor Mr.Crepsly ha died by saving Darren's, Vancha and Debbie's life. The reason the vampaneze let them live was that if Mr.Crepsly didn't hold onto steve so he would the vampaneze would let them all live so thats what Mr. Crepsly letg of steve and fell into the pit of stakes. While darren and the other were getting out of the tunnels they met up with Lady Evenna( the sorceress). She knew that Mr. Crepsly would die but she said it was better not to tell darren. After Mr. Crepsly died darren was lost. He did not know what to do he just had a blank face all the time. Then he went to the Cirque Du Freak and try to cheer up their with good friends but who helped him was Truska she told him that it was okay to cry and he did. He actually stated acting like himself again. Then Harkart was having trouble his nightmares kept getting worse. He kept yelling in his sleep and at one point Mr' Tiny(harkarts creator) said he woulds die if he didn't go on the "journey". Harkat wanted to live so he went on the journey with darren.

Mr. Tiny teleported them somewhere in a strange place that didn't seem to be on earth. Harkart and Darren were in a desert after Mr. Tiny teleported them the only clue he left them was that they had to kill the panther and it was the least of their worries. So they kept walking in the desert only at night so they wouldn't be burned by the sun. They had walked for weeks and finally they found a jungle a couple of miles away. They ate little lizards and drank from what seemed to be coconuts. Then one night while they were resting in the jungle, they heard a loud growl and they thought it was to loud to be one of the mutant monkeys{the mutant monkeys is what they called the monkeys in the jungle because they were 3 times th size of a normal monkey. So they looked over some bushes and they saw it was attacing and eatin the mutant monkeys. They were amazed that the pather was so big, they said it as at least 7 ft on all 4 and 10 ft on 2 legs. they had to think of a plan to kill it and find a clue.
