Bamboo Grove Final Post

1) I was surprised that Hideyo made it to japan and got to meet up with Yoko and it was cool that they were now safe in japan. Also that he didn't have that much trouble getting to Japan as Yoko, Ko and their mother had. What was strange was that they didn't show Ko's reaction when Hideyo came home. Also why did he not ask if mother was with Yoko. But it was cool to have some more good news since Ko and Yoko were living by themselves. Also that they didn't mention their father that much.

2) I think the author wants the reader to get an idea of whats going on because some of the traditions made a little trouble for Yoko because like the banquet for the contest she won needed to have a guardian to get in and it had to be a guy that you were related to. Well it served as an obstacle because for japan I think men were more valued than women. I would observe the new year tradition because your birth day would probably be earlier or later and it would not be accurate on how old you really are. Also that your main guardian in japan has to be a guy even if hes a baby.

3) I give my respect to Hideyo because he had to walk all the way to Seoul while his sisters and mother took the train most of the way. Also he survived the attack on the ammunition factory and saved his friends too. Also he walked for months to get to Seoul and he was almost killed most of the time. Like when he went walking with his friends and they went in that tunnel, the old man died but but Hideyo and his friends made it. After that the Russian soldiers met them at the end of the tunnel and they had to fake being Korean communist who stole things from the Japanese. Hideyo I think was probably the bravest of the whole Kawashima family, he went across the 38th parallel and survived, that's why I respect him.

4) I learned that there wasn't only devastation in Japan but also in Korea. That the 2 atomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were called Fat Man and Little Boy. When the Koreans though they had freedom and starting raping girls they figured out that America and Russia had made a deal to keep them under control. On some occasions the Japanese attacked their own people like the Kawashimas and acted inhumanly. What i thought didn't exist was that their were refugee boats that weren't attacked by the Koreans, because I thought this because the Koreans hated the Japanese. What I want to know is that if America has some what control over Korea still? I also saw a rumor that there was a third atomic bomb made that was named Junior that they didn't use, is that true?

5) Well the Kawashima family taught us to be good and helpful under the most dangerous circumstances. But we can learn not to be as inhumanly as that stout soldier who chose some stolen things and killed one of his own men right in front of the other two. For me there were two themes one was to be good and respectful and there were cruelty and do what ever you want and don't care if you get caught like those Korean Communist that attacked the ammunition factory and Mr. Niado is the good example since he helped Yoko.
