Quote #1: Some times she's invited to cocktails parties. She takes me along and when I get there I'm confused with the way people stand nose to nose chatting and eating little bits of stale bread and crackers, no one singing or telling a story the way they did in Limerick, till they start loking at their watches and saying, Are you hungry? Wanna go get something to eat? and out they drift and thats what they call a party.
Significance #1: It's been a while since Frank first got to America and he's still confused about what people do in America like the party. I think Frank tries to compare and contrast the thing in America and the thing in Limerick.
Personal connection #1: I sometimes feel like Frank at some parties I've been to because all some people do is talk and when you want to play something people look at you like if you were from a different planet. That's why i don't tag along to my brother's friend party.
Question #1: do you think people might hurt Frank for being friends with Horace?
Quote #2: If my mother were here she'd be puzzled. She'd wonder why women complain. Lord above she'd say they have everything. They're warm and clean well fed and they complain about everything. My mother and the women in the slums of Limerick rarely had anything and they hardly complain. They said it was the will of god.
Significance #2: Frank is still annoyed with the fact that the decent people of America have a lot of thing and yet they complain more than the poor. Frank is still looking for a place that is nice in
America with people who are generous and hardly complain which is hard to find in the present.
Character Judgment #2: Since Frank is talkng about his mom I wonder if he has found a permanent job to sustain his family back in Limerick. I don't think he go back on his word but Malachy draft in the air force won't last forever and Frank can't just let the army keep sustaing his mom.
Question #2: what do you think Frank will do in Tiverton?

Quote #1: I agree with you that Frank was still adjusting to American accustoms. If I was Frank I would just be myself because you can teach some people at the party about your self and could make things more fun.
Question #1: I would only expect people who have a grudge against Horace to hurt Frank. Because those kind of people would think Frank would be like Horace.
Quote #2: This quote shows how ignorant people is because they are not thankful for the things they have that people don't. I also feel the same way like Frank when people complain more than the poor.
Question #2: I think Frank would do the usual and explore around Tiverton.
Quote #1: I think that Frank is thinking that America is so different somethings make no sense. Sometimes I think that to people spend all that money on vacations and all they do is lay down instead of looking around and exploring the area.
Question #1: No, I think the people at the warehouse would hurt Horace. When they see that Frank is reading they might think that he is a "fairy" and think that Horace is a "fairy".
Quote #2: As well it makes no sense that she complains but the people have different wants and expectations. Franks mother is probably really grateful for the military money she got.
Question #2: I don't think he'll do much. It doesn't sound like Mike's mother likes Frank so I think he'll just act natural
Quote #1: This quote shows how Frank is still getting used to America. He still has a lot of Irish in him.
Question #1: I think that just because Horace is Black doesnt mean he is a bad person. I hope people dont hurt Frank.
Quote #2: This quote shows how different Americans are to the Irish. I think that Americans should be grateful for what they have because people in Ireland are suffering.
Question #2: In Tiverton I think Frank will just chill out and not do much.
Quote #1: Maybe some people when they first come here they take a long time to get use to it.
Question #1: I do not think that they will beat him up because they have not done anything bad.
Quote #2: I think that Frank is trying to say that they complain a lot when they have everything that they need when in Limerick they do not have anything and they do not complain.
