Tis #5 by Frank McCourt

Quote #1: I print my name on the blackboard, Mr. McCourt. A girl from the back of the room calls out, Mister, you got a girlfriend? They all laugh again and I blush again.

Significance #1: It been a couple days since Frank started to teach there and he still hasn't got his kids under control. I wonder if he will ever lay down the law because so far it seems that the students are running the classroom. They are still blurting stuff out and making comments and they still don't get in trouble.

Character Judgment #1: I still don't blame Frank for not being a strict teacher because after all he is teaching kids that are pretty close to his age and if not maybe some are his age. I think this job would be hard because he still thinks that he isn't that great and that almost everyone in America is better than him.

Question #1: How long do you think Frank will last with this teaching job?

Quote #2: Th old-timers in the teachers cafeteria say the classroom is a battle ground, that teachers are warriors bringing the light to these darn kids who don't want to learn anything, who just want to sit on their bottoms and talk about movies and car and what they are going to do Saturday night. That's the way this country is, we offer free education and no one one wants it.

Significance #2: I think the older teachers might get to Frank about how these kids might never change. I think they are trying to get Frank to leave because the old-timers may wan the school to themselves and they might not like new people. I think that Frank will be okay since he is used to be treated poorly.

Character Judgment #2: I think that Frank might not give up on these kids and possibly turn the school around. I think that being young and a teacher might give him an advantage because he is around the students ages and he can relate to them.

Question #2: Do you think Frank might turn the school around?

Quote #1: This quote shows how school is different from present to Frank's time. If I just yelled during middle of class and asked a stupid question I would get in trouble. This quote also made me glad I didn't experience school back them in Frank's time.

Question #1: I think that Frank will last a long time because he has a passion of teaching. Even though the students will be disrepectful at times, I think Frank will deal with it and do what he loves.

Quote #2: This quote showed how the teachers were back then in Frank's time where they give hope on helping there students. Like your last quote I am thankful that I don't have to experience being a student at a school where teachers don't care about you.

Question #2: I think yes because he has a kind heart. Slowly but surely he will get the students interested in learning.

Quote #2: The teachers keep harassing Frank. It really makes Frank's social life in some way difficult.

Question #2: I don't really think so I think he will leave the school. I think he will go to a school where the students will respect him.
