1) I was surprised that Hideyo made it to japan and got to meet up with Yoko and it was cool that they were now safe in japan. Also that he didn't have that much trouble getting to Japan as Yoko, Ko and their mother had. What was strange was that they didn't show Ko's reaction when Hideyo came home. Also why did he not ask if mother was with Yoko. But it was cool to have some more good news since Ko and Yoko were living by themselves. Also that they didn't mention their father that much.
2) I think the author wants the reader to get an idea of whats going on because some of the traditions made a little trouble for Yoko because like the banquet for the contest she won needed to have a guardian to get in and it had to be a guy that you were related to. Well it served as an obstacle because for japan I think men were more valued than women. I would observe the new year tradition because your birth day would probably be earlier or later and it would not be accurate on how old you really are. Also that your main guardian in japan has to be a guy even if hes a baby.
3) I give my respect to Hideyo because he had to walk all the way to Seoul while his sisters and mother took the train most of the way. Also he survived the attack on the ammunition factory and saved his friends too. Also he walked for months to get to Seoul and he was almost killed most of the time. Like when he went walking with his friends and they went in that tunnel, the old man died but but Hideyo and his friends made it. After that the Russian soldiers met them at the end of the tunnel and they had to fake being Korean communist who stole things from the Japanese. Hideyo I think was probably the bravest of the whole Kawashima family, he went across the 38th parallel and survived, that's why I respect him.
4) I learned that there wasn't only devastation in Japan but also in Korea. That the 2 atomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were called Fat Man and Little Boy. When the Koreans though they had freedom and starting raping girls they figured out that America and Russia had made a deal to keep them under control. On some occasions the Japanese attacked their own people like the Kawashimas and acted inhumanly. What i thought didn't exist was that their were refugee boats that weren't attacked by the Koreans, because I thought this because the Koreans hated the Japanese. What I want to know is that if America has some what control over Korea still? I also saw a rumor that there was a third atomic bomb made that was named Junior that they didn't use, is that true?
5) Well the Kawashima family taught us to be good and helpful under the most dangerous circumstances. But we can learn not to be as inhumanly as that stout soldier who chose some stolen things and killed one of his own men right in front of the other two. For me there were two themes one was to be good and respectful and there were cruelty and do what ever you want and don't care if you get caught like those Korean Communist that attacked the ammunition factory and Mr. Niado is the good example since he helped Yoko.

Bamboo Grove OP# 4
1) I think yoko wants to help Mr.Niado because she wants to help him with his stuttering. And he in return gives her paper pencil and other school supplies. But what theu do have in common is that they are teased by the school girls. But they are both jind at each other, he sells cans for yoko and yoko provides him company and help him with his stuttering. By this yoko doesn't have to buy school supplies with her money, and Mr.Niado comforts her by saying her father and Hideyo will come home.
2) Yoko is respecting ko more because she saw Ko shining shoes for money, and now she is proud that ko is making that sacrifice to support Yoko and her. She si being nicer to ko and is now regreting of thinking that ko was so bossy and no she is grateful because she realized that ko is trying to act like mother so she could look out for yoko. Since Ko was doing that yoko is now admiring Yoko.
3) Why until now has Mrs. Masuda have offered to help Ko and yoko?
I think it is because she was feeling sad that they were sleeping at the station and now that thier mother died and they noe else to look after them she let them stay in the ware house. Also for them to look out for thieves.

Bamboo Grove OP#3
1)
A. Well Yoko and her family decide to leave Korea because the KKoreans were celebrating their Independence. They were drinking and they looked among the ware house to find young JJapanese girls to rape. If Ko didn't cut her hair i think she would of been a goner.
B. I think it was a good decision to leave Hideyo behind because if they stayed any longer the would've already been discovered. But I hope that Hideyo finds his way to his family. If I was Ko or Yoko i think i would have left because they live were at risk of being raped and killed.
2) If you were in Hideyo's position would you keep going on no matter what or would you just stay and let your self die? Why?

Bamboo Grove OP#2
1) Hideo has a strong personality, like when they were in the ammunition factory, he touch one of his dead class mates and covered his face with blood so he wouldn't get caught. He also was brave enough to go back and get his friends, with out going to escape by himself. I think he loves his family very much to go all the way to Seoul walking. I hope he finds his family because he has no one else besides his dad, and maybe he may already be caught. But when Hideo and his friends depart Hideo loved his family enough to pursue by foot.
2)
1. The first thing I would bring would be my lap top in case we get lost.
2. I would bring non-perishable food for our escape.
3. I would bring some canteens of water to survive the trip.
4. I would bring winter clothes in case it got cold over night.
5. I would bring my birth certificat, passport and my I.D.
6. I would bring some cash from my savings account.
7. A flash light with some batteris, to see during the dark.
8. A first Aid kit in case anyone got injured.
9. I will also bring a huntng knife to cut some fruit and other things.\
10. A cell phone to call for help.
3) The most shocking event that i think that happened so far for me was the ammunition factory. How Yasuo got killed in less than 10 seconds. All those Korean communist killed alot of the workers. And how Hideo barely made by dipping his hand in Yasuo's blood and putting on his face. Also when they blew up the factory with all those bead people inside.
most of the workers were captured and it was sad how only 4 people escaped that tradegy. i was confused on how they can kill them that fast with out even thinking twice.

Bamboo Grove OP #1
1) She is scared of the war going on. Beacuase the thing that are atrting to happen to them are increasing. Because first they were attacked my military soldiers and then was the train station and now the bomb that almost killed her. I think its amazing that she can still keep up with this war thing with out cause that much of a fuss. But she is also kind of whining be Ko only wants yoko to be safe but instead yoko calls her bossy and mean. But the ride on the train, i thought that Yoko would be freaking out but she was only a little scared.
2) Yoko realationship with Ko is a strong realation ship. Becasue they are helping each other to survive. But yoko thinks shes big enough to make her own decisions but she isn't. when she called Ko bossy was when Ko told her to not go on the bridge because she said it would be safer for her to go. And the while the y were wlking on the bridge she said ko was mean and bossy for going way ahed of them on the bridge, but when ko took yoko she reagreted to say that she was mean and bossy.
3) Well they act kindful and respect fully to the patients. First Yoko gave capfuls of water to that woman. And Ko shared her food with another person. And when the baby died Yoko's mother clipped the babies nail and cut a lockful of hair to the mother. And when the left Yoko and her mother left the food with the patients.

Q #5: What character do you like the most in this book and/or what character do you least like?
Why?
Response: My favorite character is Darren shan, he is one of the huunters who is destined to meet the vampaneze lord and kill him. If he doesn't kill him the either Vancha March or Mr. Crepsly will have. If they don't kill the vampaneze lord, he will lead the vampaneze to war and the vampires are supposily destined to lose the war of scars. The character I like the least is Mr.Tiny, because he delivers the bad news and is always happy to say that the vampires are going to be exstinct. He also has the power to let the vampires win but he decides the stronger clan should win.
Q #8: How did what you make you feel about what you've read? Why?
Response: I kind of feel confused, because how are they supposed to find the vampeze lord by going on of what they are doing. Because Mr Tin said that they only have to follow their hearts to find and kill the vampaneze lord. Also their is a new enemy of the future a stronger one. Darren found out by helping harkart with his nightmares. The guy is called the lord of destruction or the lord of shade. He was going to kill darren but it was only in a dream. Lady
Evenna told Darren that he only caught a glimpse of the future in Harkarts nightmare.

Q 19: What has surpirsed you in your book? Why?
What surprised me was that Mr. Tiny came back to Vampire muntain after his last vist which was 600 yrs ago. And he said that the vampires have a chance to win against the vampaneze. Thier first chance to ecsape the war was wasted because they killed Kurda Smalt for bieng a traitor, he had an alliance with the vampaneze. Then thier other chance is for Darren, Mr. Crepsly and Vancha March. Vancha is a vampire prince also. Thier misson is to find the vampaneze lord and kill him before he gets fully blooded. And if they don't kill him then thier last chance is to gaurd the stone of blood for one night in the vampires darkest hour and the stone will rise the vampires from thier ashes.
Q 4: What exciting event had just happended?
Well Darren and Mr. Crepsly were being hunted by vampets which are humans on the vampaneze side who can use guns to kill vampires. Well they killed 2 out of the 3 that the fought and the other one was a suicide bomber who was going to use a grenade to kill Darren, but darren was saved by Vancha. Later they went on to find Lady Evanna, who is a sourcerous. she is going to help Darren, Mr. Creplsy and vancha on thier quest to hunt down the Vampaneze Lord. Harkart which is the little person just found out that he'd been to Lady Evenna cave before, and he now has nightmares of dragons and dragon masters. Mr. Tiny offered to tell him about his past but he refused.

Weekly Reading Response- Hunters Of Dusk: Book 7 of Cirque Du Freak
Q #3 response: In this book I wonder how will it be to live in the world that the main character lives. The main character is Darren Shana and he is a half vampire. And in this book vampires have super strength, super speed, can heeal wounds with spit, and can knock you out with special gas. But darren is only a half vampire so he can only have super strength, but he can go out in sun light. I this book Darren is now a vampire prince which is one of the vampire leaders. They are currently in a war with the vampeneze which are vampires but they think when they drink blood from a human the human should die. The war is debating over that vampires should not kill humans for their blood.
Right now is when one of the princes Mika Le Verth said that they might win the war since there are less vampeneze than vampires. And the vampres had a party in vampire mountain, every vampire had a hang over. Recently Mr. Tiny who can tell the future came back to vampire mountain after 600 years to tell what going to happen in the war of the vampaneze and the vampires. Harkart who is a little person has been having nightmares of a dragon master coming to kill him and they found him but he really is Mr. Tiny. The wierd thing about Mr. Tiny is that he enjoys everyone suffer, and he is at vampire mountain to tell bad news about the war. Seba also has news to find away to help, seba is the mentor of Mr. Crepsley who is the mentor of Darren, he has an idea of training poisinous spiders to war so they will loose less vampires in the war. But the bad thing is that the vampaneze are blodding more humans to increase thier population.

Final Wave Assignments:
1) I think that the quote means to like never allow yourself into a group where you have no voice, or in a group that holds or seizies your rights, and power. Also to not join a group tthat only want you to use you just like the nazis. In elementary school I saw this one group of kids that hanged around this shy kid so they let him in thier "group". And then I was playing tag and see the shy kid and the other kids and they were making him steal from one of the teachers and he said it wasn't right but he grop threanted him that they would kick him out and he did steal the box of candy but he got introuble and the other kids made him take the blame. Also that happened to my brother once. He joined a group of friends but then when he had soomething they wanted they took it away from him and he didn't say anything intil he decided thta he shouldn't be friends with those kids.
2) He changes drastictly, because at first he was the class loser. And when he sat at the same lunch table with other people, they'd move. When he joined the wave he thought this was hisw only chance to show how he really is. since Mr.Ross used him as an example, like when they were first learning how sit and answer questions. And since everyone learn a lesson in the end of the wave. they realized that thier leader was the worst leader, but i tink that they won't forget how to treat each other equally as the wave. Robert probably thought it was over for him once the wave ended because that was the thin g he mostly relied on. I don't think that he will bethe loser again since most of the school expirienced the wave.
3) A: A facist part in the wave is when the jewish kid got beat up by a wave member since he was a non-wav member, and after he beat up the jewish kid, who was Duetsh, Brian the wave member, called him a durty jew. Also in the begining of the wave, the wave was optional and if you said you didn't want to join the wave members would respect that. When the wave grew the wave members were being aggressive and racist to the non-wave members. Like the anonymous kid that wrote that letter to Laurie so it could be published.
B: Well in 1860 th civil war was held and that was facism because the confederate president Robert E. Lee belived that African amereicans shouldn't be equal as white people. That they should be slaves and nothing more. But since the union won the war america got fairly equal.
4) Mob Mentality:
I think one way to aoid it is to observe it, to see if you want to join that "mob". And if you think there are thing that you don't like don't join that group. If you caught your self in the ob do what ever you can to get out fast or the grup will have you in peer pressure and it'll be really hard to get out then. One way to avoind mob metality is to ignore what ever it is saying, because if you get caught in mob mentality it probably will make you do anything, thing that you probably regret for the rest of your life. But the main thing to aviod it is to join a group that you can trust that aren't doing anything bad.

FHP Reflection:
FHP Reflection
Purpose: Well the family history helped us learn more about our families and what events they had experienced in the past. Also how to managed several dates . It was a pretty enjoyable project because we got to interview family relatives. And we get to find out that their life wasn't really boring as I thought it would be. Like my family friend he experienced the Vietnam war, and how he actually fought in the front line of the war.
First hand out was the pre-project plan. That was for us so we could already narrow our choice out than just say that the family member couldn't t do the interview and then you would be stuck in the middle of the project. Then was the project plan and it was pretty much the same as the project pre-plan. Then we had to was when we chose the historical event that they have been and do a historical narrative. Then once we did the narrative we had to a personal narrative. Then was the interview write-up. Then there were 2 ways to present this project. It was either the scrapbook way or the news article. I did the news article. Then on the night we presented we had to stand by our project and answer any questions.
What I learned : I learned about how the Vietnam war started, who started it how it ended. I didn't think my family was that interesting but this project helped me explore the culture and the past that my family experienced. The skills I learned were on how to use a graphic organizer. How to analyzes data from the Internet(not using Wikipedia). How to interview people which was pretty cool because I never interviewed anybody before. And what was cool was that I learned how to bind and scan pictures. I learned how to organize lots of due dates so I could finish .
Reflection: I enjoyed this project because it helped me learn more about my family. I never you that m family was that interesting. What I could of done was that I should of got more pictures to make a scrap book. Next time I think I should procrastinate less and get more time to work on the project. I would also try to get more artifacts to make my project more interesting. But overall this project was a really fun project to do.

Wave OP #5:
2) On pg 128 "I feel alone all of the sudden," David said as they walked through the trees of the park. " It's like all my friends are part of a crazy movement and I'm an outcast because I refuse to be exactly like them." This part is very decriptive becuase it says how controlling the wave is and it tells me that one of the wave's strength is peer pressure.
3) I wonder how all the wave members felt when they just got seated in the auditorium?

Wave OP #4:
1) I think hes feeling unsecure because there is a high risk that he might get in trouble. He feels wired since robert asked to be his bodygaurd. He also feels upset that Laurie not only not joined the wave but now is attacking it socially. By putting out copies of the grapevine that work against the wave to shut it down. Also all those parents that are complaining to principle owens.
2) On pg. 95 , Laurie stopped and saw brad coming toward her. " Oh, hi, laurie I didn't reconize you from behind," he said. Then he did the wave salute. Laurie just stood there with out moving. Brad frowned. " Come on Laurie just give me the salute and you can go up". I think this is going to far with the wave because you should be able to go up in the stands without doing a salute.
3) Do you think laurie will suceed to take down the wave through the grapevine and why?

3) Do you think laurie will suceed to take down the wave through the grapevine and why?

Wave OP #3
1) One clue is that when Mr.Owen cleed ben ross to his officebecause the wave was only meant for his class and to last a short period of time. Also when there is going to be a "wave pep rally" for the football and he had no idea, also when the most of the kids in the high school salute each other and he doesnt even know how many kids joined.
2) PG 78: The principle removed his pipe from between his lips and tapped it on the ashtray." I must say it's unusual. Ben are you surethat the students are not falling behind?" I like that sentence because in some movies the character with the pipe did exactly what Mr. Owen did.
3) Why do you think Laurie is not as entusiastic as the other students about the wave?

Wave: 2# assignment
1) The wave and it's motto started to spread because of david. He thought since it got the history class together it could get the football team together. So when brian got into a fight with deutsch he thought it was the right time to mention the wave. All of the team members got exicited because it's just wat they needed to win their football games.
2) The line I think is interesting is on pg. 38, 3rd paragraph."He stepped out of the stalland was heading to the sinks when he saw some one and stopped abruptly. The bathroom had emptied out anf only one person was left, Robert. He was standing in front of the mirror, tucking in his shirt unaware that he wasn't alone. As david watched the class loser straightend some of the hair on his headand stared at his reflection. Then snappedto attention and his lips moved silently, as if he was still in Mr. Ross's class answering questions." I think the wave helped him realize hes not a loser.
3) Why do you think Laurie's mother oposses the wave other than it's militaryistics?

The wave:
1#)
A: The book ocuured at Palo Alto, Califonia in a history class in 1969.
B: When Ben Ross said like the student at this high school don't care about home work any more even if he threatens them with detetion or an "f" they don't care. But now in our schools right now in this time it is very important to fininsh all work thats important. Also Ben mentioned that n his time they didn't tolerate this type of behavior and since he was a teacer it had to be in the old times. Since they were watching a world war 2 movie documentary on a film projector and film projectes were used in old times.
2#) i liked it when Laurie described Mr. Gabondi a short, dark heavyset man who always seemed to be sweaty on they coldest of winter days. When he taught. he spoke in a dull monotone that could put the brightest student to sleepand, even the course wasn't that difficult, Laurie recalled that it was hard to pay enough attention to get an "A"
3#) I wonder what ben ross meant when he said he had something in stor?

Betty Ann
1). The sadest part was when Betty Ann transferred schools and had a nervous breakdown, because she tried her hardest to be friends with the other girls but they just made fun of her. To eventually it shattered her soul.
2). Yes I would of said just forget about them, ignore them since they didn't want to be your friends and look for different friends. I'm sure there was more friendly people at that school that can be your friends.
3). The moral is probably words can hurt people too. And even though it might not look like you're hurting the victim they are probably to hurt to say anything back like in Betty Ann's she was o nice to say anything.

Seventh grade
Question #1: The sentence thats moved me is the one when victor is saying "hi' to Michael and and he said back. Then when he said why are you making a face and Michael and then he said he is scowling and thats what you do to attract girls. And thats funny because mainly things in a magazines are not true. And later in the story scowling does work.
Question #2: One part of the story that I really connected to is when Victor auotamaticly raised his hand in french class when the french teacher asked if any one here knows french. Ican rwelate to that because I,ve been emmberassed in the open class like that, because one of my teachers in elemaentary school just called out on me to come to the baord when I was day dreaming. And as victor did so he wouldn't be embarressed I would study the topic i did't get in school so I wouldn't get openly embarrassed.

Test
Question #1: Robert proctor said"you can't do this to me I'm still dreaming aren't I". The uniforemed man said"how do any of us know"?
The reason I chose this sentence is because this sentence made me thin if this whoel world is a dream. Because for Robert proctor it was hard to tell if it was reality. And the "Hypnosis" made me think if that will be part of the driving test in the future.
Question #2: I think it kind of should be part of the driving test because now teens are reckless and aren't as careful as they should be. And this hypnosis test could make the road safer. But then the hypnosis could make the people scarred mentally.
Question #3: When the uniformed man said " How do any of us know"? was kind of a cliff hanger. It's like the author wanted us guess the ending. But I think the uniformed man wanted get the best of Robert Proctor when he said how do any of us know, and make him guess even more.

Movie post
First in the video we learned that gras covers 1/4 of the earth and that grass is almost indestructble. Then we learned that every summer 5 million snow geese travel from mexico to the artic to mate in the grass lands which is called the artic tudra. When they mate all the females are alone for 3 weeks which make them vunurable to snow foxes which eat the snow geeses eggs. When the eggs hatch the snow fox comes back and grabs the baby chicks so it can feed it to their young so the cubs can survive the winter. Next was the south africa which in the summer the plants bloom to thier potential, and that elephant grass is the tallest grass in the world. Then after talking about africa it went to the rain forest and that there really isn't any seasons its just wet and hot all the time. Thats why one of the treasures of the rain forest are the fig trees because the give fruit year around. But at night is when the frogs in the rain forest mate and there was this really cool frog naned the gliding leap frog which jumps off vines and trees and uses it's webbed hands and feet as parachutes. The video was really awesome thanks Mrs. Iterlandi

book comments

Hi one of my other favorite things to do is read. My favorite book is Vampire Mountain by J.K Rowling. The reason I like this book is because it has amazing twist that you never see coming, lots of suspense and action it's a really amazing book that you should try. It's in the series of Cirque Du Freak.
