TKAM Journal #5: Perspective of Dill

It was during the week when I just had enough of my parents ignoring me. They would just

keep to themselves and won't involve me with anything, they would just say we bought you

those toys so play with them. I remembered the good times I had in Maycomb, Alabama. Scout

an Jem always knew how to have fun by themselves so I made my decision. The next day, in

the evening, when my parents were busy I crept to my mom's purse and took as much money

as I could find and ran back to my room. I shut and locked the door, and counted all the money I

had exactly thirteen dollars which was just enough to get to Maycomb, Alabama from Meridian,

Mississippi by train. I ran to the train station and caught the first train that went straight to

Maycomb, Alabama. When I finally arrived in Maycomb it was around 5pm, I had to walk to

Scout's house since I used up all my money riding the train here and i was so hungry. I walked

up to their door and I heard arguing so it was probably a bad time going in. I snuck around to the

back of the house and went through the back door. I went through the dining room and cut

across the hall and went into Scout's room and hid under her bed. I was going to stake out under

her bed and hopefully she would come soon since I'm dying of hunger and to my relief they came

around 2 hours later. I popped up and they were surprised to see me. I told them what had

happened and Jem thought he should tell his father Atticus, Scout and I thought that was a bad

idea but he went anyway. Atticus came in and saw me he was a little surprised asked me what

happened and invited me for dinner, I was happy since i was really hungry. He went to my Aunt

Rachel and she came over saying that my parents were worried sick about me. I got to stay for

the night. I had to sleep in Jems room but I couldn't take so i went to sleep with Scout. The next

morning Scout and Jem caught me up about everything that happened recently like the trial, to

the fire and to Boo Radley actually being nice and helpful even though no one had seen him yet. I

was impressed with all the adventures they had, a lot more interesting here in Maycomb than in

Meridian. one night when I was sleeping at my Aunt Rachel's house I woke up around 10pm to

the sound of a car engine. It was Atticus which was weird because why was he leaving late at

night. Ten seconds later Jem and Scout appeared at my window asking me if I wanted to tag

along which I did. i snuck out the window and followed Jem along with Scout. We first went to

the courthouse where his office was but Atticus wasn't there. The we saw him sitting down

reading a news paper at the door of the Maycomb county jail. The a group of men appeared and

Scout jumped out and ran to Atticus. Jem tried to stop her but was to late. I heard Scout talking

but i couldn't tell what she was saying the Jem popped out so I followed him. Atticus told Jem to

take us home repeatedly but Jem kept answering no. the men left and so did we with Atticus. it

was scary being there at night but at least it was more interesting than being in Meridain.

I like how you kept referring back to how Maycomb is better than Meridian, and how Dill would rather be in Myacomb than Meridian. I also like how you wrote how Dill would talk because that made it more realistic as if Dill had actually said it.
